string band innovation featuring Tristan and Tashina Clarridge
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Boasting four of the most accomplished, creative young talents of the emerging new acoustic music scene, The Bee Eaters mingle bluegrass, old-time, Celtic, jazz, and pop influences into a striking, elegant fusion of tradition and innovation. Dubbed "the instrumental cream of the brand new string nation" by fiddle legend Darol Anger, the quartet features hammered dulcimer virtuoso Simon Chrisman and banjo phenomenon Wes Corbett, plus the inimitable brother-sister fiddle duo Tristan and Tashina Clarridge.

Tristan, a five-time Grand National Fiddle Champion, tours with Crooked Still and Darol Anger's Republic of Strings, and has performed with Mike Marshall, Bruce Molsky, and Cape Breton fiddle phenomenon Natalie MacMaster. His sister Tashina, the 2005 Grand National Fiddle Champion, has toured with Mark O'Connor and Tony Trischka. Tristan and Tashina grew up at the Freight—their earliest public performances were at our Open Mics, and we tapped them for a spot on our Christmas Holiday Revue back in 1992, when they were still elementary school students. Since starting banjo at age 16, Wesley Corbett has toured internationally with bluegrass sensations The Biscuit Burners and appeared with the David Grisman Quintet, among others. Hammered dulcimer wizard Simon Chrisman has performed with Darol Anger and Mike Marshall.

The Bee Eaters' will release their debut CD in early 2009.
