Master of the Celtic arts
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

One of the world's finest players and makers of the Celtic harp, Chris Caswell is also a natural raconteur and a respected performer on the Scottish bagpipes, Irish flute and tinwhistle, and the bodhran (Irish frame drum). Chris is a true Celtic bard, weaving a fierce beauty with the intesity of his playing and the delight he takes in his music. His playing, which has been likened to reading ecstatic poetry, is informed by Wales, the Middle East, Latin America, the French countryside—anywhere from which his deep experience can move the listener in an essential way.

After several years spent recording and touring with Robin Williamson and His Merry Band in the 1970's, Chris formed Caswell Carnahan with Danny Carnahan in 1980. He has made numerous recordings, both solo efforts like Holywood (2001) and as a backing musician, including Bonnie Rideout's Grammy-nominated Kindred Spirits. He also keeps busy working as an audio engineer, composing for film and broadcast video, teaching, and, of course, making instruments: Chris' harps are considered among the finest traditional harps available. And you should hear him play them!
