the traveling lady of song & story celebrates release of CD tribute to Utah Phillips
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Rosalie Sorrels' singing and wise, gritty stories evoke a huge life brimming with adventure as well as tragedy, rich in meaning and texture. Ranging from prairie ballads that echo her Idaho upbringing to songs about contemporary concerns, Rosalie always amazes with the depth of her compassion and wit, not to mention her stunning voice. (Gamble Rogers once described her as "the hillbilly Edith Piaf.") Tonight, she performs a hefty bunch of tunes from her new CD, Strangers in Another Country (Red House), a collection of songs written by her longtime friend and frequent collaborator, the late Utah Phillips.

Whether singing, telling stories, or reciting poetry, Rosalie's voice springs from a deep, deep well of experience. An outspoken hero for folk culture, she has spent much of her long life gathering an encyclopedic knowledge of the folk idiom, from English ballads to the work of contemporary songwriters, and working to preserve the oral tradition with her own songs and stories.

Be sure to join Rosalie for what's sure to be one of this year's most memorable shows!
