music & story from charismatic Celtic harper
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Patrick Ball is one of the premier Celtic harp players in the world, as well as a captivating storyteller in the Irish tradition, blending the glorious tones of the wire-strung harp and spoken-word magicianship into rich theatrical performances.

Tonight, Patrick presents The Fine Beauty of the Island. Born from his search for the origins of one haunting tune, this piece takes us on a personal journey and offers a fascinating glimpse into the vanished world of the mystical, remote Blasket Islands, which lie three miles off the Dingle Peninsula of Ireland. Amidst ruggedly beautiful surroundings, the inhabitants of the Blaskets balanced lives full of backbreaking labor with haunting music and storytelling, until the last of them departed for the mainland in the 1950s.

A California native, Patrick has released many albums, and has won national awards for his playing and storytelling.
