Tribute to Woody Guthrie
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $20.50

Join us for an evening of inspiration with Tribute to Woody Guthrie, an inspiring one-man show of song and spoken word presented by singer-songwriter, historian, and infamous rockin' rabble-rouser, Country Joe McDonald. In tonight's performance, as well as on his new CD, Joe mixes classic Woody Guthrie songs, from "This Land is Your Land" to "Pastures of Plenty," with tales from Woody's life, snippets of his letters, and Joe's own musings about the folksinger's life and times. What comes through loud and clear is a fresh, moving portrait of a man full of wisdom, wry humor, compassion, and truly great songs.

As a Vietnam-era sailor, folk singer, anti-war activist, rock music icon, and advocate for environmental and veterans' causes, Joe has been a substantial figure on the landscape of American culture for the past four decades. In the 1960s his band, Country Joe and the Fish, was renowned for performing at demonstrations against the war in Vietnam and for its music that became a staple of college, progressive, and underground radio stations—not to mention for its "fish cheer." Over the past few decades, Joe has continued to bring his music to audiences world-wide, while continuing to be a powerful advocate for the issues close to his heart.
