classic Greenwich Village folk performer
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Eric Andersen launched his professional career at Gerde's Folk City in the mid-'60s. As part of the Greenwich Village folk scene that included Phil Ochs, Patrick Sky, Buffy Sainte-Marie, and Bob Dylan, Eric made a name for himself with songs that displayed an intriguing mix of irony and high romanticism.

Through his forty-plus year career, Eric has recorded 25 albums, and many of his original songs, like "Thirsty Boots" and "Violets of Dawn," have become folk classics, covered by artists all over the world, including Judy Collins, Bob Weir, Linda Ronstadt, Fairport Convention, Peter Paul and Mary, The Grateful Dead, and Francoise Hardy.

In 2005 he paid tribute to his folk roots with his CD, The Street was Always There (Appleseed), a collection of songs that he and his colleagues wrote and performed in streets, cafes, and clubs of 1960s Greenwich Village. This year he released Blue Rain a live album recorded in Norway, where he now resides, featuring songs that demonstrate his signature blend of blues, jazz, and folk idioms.
