Evocative songwriter and gifted vocalist Claudia Russell returns to our stage with her Folk Unlimited Orchestra, featuring guitarist/mandolinist Bruce Kaplan, bassist Mark Petrella, Carl Byron on piano and accordion, and Ted Waterhouse on National Steel guitar. A versatile musician with a sweet, smoky voice, Claudia plays an eclectic folk style that's all her own, weaving together blues, western swing, country, pop, and rock influences. Roaming between soulful piano ballads, bluesy numbers, and a great country-fied version of Smokey Robinson's "I Second That Emotion" (complete with slide guitar), she draws from original compositions, obscure gems, and folk and pop classics, making each song completely her own.

Named Best New Artist of 2000 by Boston's renowned folk radio station, WUMB, Claudia is a two-time finalist in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk songwriting competition. Last year, she released her third CD, the fabulous Live Band Tonight.
