Singer-songwriter Carrie Newcomer is an Indiana native known for her eloquent songs of resilience, love, and spirituality, infused with a strong roots-rock sensibility and tempered by Appalachian and classical influences. She has been winning over audiences for years with her warmth, her wry sense of fun, and the beauty and strength of her dark, rich, bluesy voice (aptly described by the Austin Statesman as "rich as Godiva chocolate").

Tonight Carrie spotlights new songs from her recent Rounder release, The Geography of Light, a lush, intimate exploration of light and shadow in our lives. "Songwriting," maintains Carrie, "Is not about being clever, flashy or fancy—it is about telling a compelling story in language and music with elegance and clarity."
