CD release concert for Melismantra, with Tracy Silverman (violin) and Scott Amendola (drums)
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Harmonically rich and rhythmically compelling, the compositions of Gyan Riley reveal both instrumental virtuosity and a breadth of imagination and depth of spirit that are, frankly, awesome. His original pieces mingle influences of jazz and Indian classical music with classical and Spanish traditions, all colored by his passionate, intricate guitar work. Tonight's show focuses on selections from Gyan's new CD, Melismantra, with guest artists Tracy Silverman on violin and Scott Amendola on drums.

A rising figure of guitar and contemporary music, both as a performer and composer, Gyan was the first guitarist ever to be awarded a full scholarship from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, in 1999. He tours regularly with the Los Angeles based Falla Guitar Trio, the Feinsmith Quartet, and with his father, composer/pianist Terry Riley.
