Fondly remembered by folks who saw them perform back in the day, Any Old Time String Band was one of the most popular old-time bands in California during the 1970s and '80s. Playing an adventurous mixture of traditional fiddle tunes, old blues, string band songs, Cajun music, popular tunes of the 1920s and '30s, and even a bit of string band jazz, the pioneering all-woman band combines contagious high spirits with top-notch musicianship. Rambunctious, sweet, or gritty lead vocals, fine harmonies, careening fiddles, and crisp picking power, all this and more is yours for the hearing once again in two fabulous reunion performances at the Freight!

These special performances feature all five of the original band members, each a heavy hitter from the traditional music scene: Suzy Thompson (Bluegrass Intentions, Aux Cajunals, Thompson's String Ticklers, etc.), Kate Brislin (& Jody Stecher), Sue Draheim (Golden Bough, Tempest), Genny Haley, and Valerie Mindel, accompanied by Steven Strauss on bass. Tonight's show features new material as well as favorites like "See You In C-U-B-A" and "I Bid You Goodnight"—tons of terrific music and a whole lot of fun.
