John Lester captivates audiences with his beautiful songwriting and rich, smoky baritone voice, accompanied by his 80-year-old upright bass. His innovative style draws from decades of experience playing folk, jazz, rock, reggae, and Latin music. Tunes from John's most recent CD, So Many Reasons, won two West Coast Songwriters International Songwriting Competition awards and a Northern California Songwriters Association Song of the Year award.
Grammy-nominated bassist, composer, and two-time winner of Bass Player magazine's Player of the Year award, Michael Manring presents a set of his ground-breaking original compositions, improvisations, and ingenious transcriptions. Hailed by many as the world's leading solo bassist, Michael spent years as the house bassist for the Windham Hill label, as well as collaborating with artists as diverse as Patti Larkin, Henry Kaiser, and Thomas Dolby. In his remarkable solo performances, he weaves together numerous musical influences into a boundary-pushing tapestry rich with expression, virtuosic technique, and pure joy.
