Getting his start in the 1960s Greenwich Village folk music scene, David Bromberg's electrifying and acrobatic guitar playing earned him both critical and popular acclaim. He spent years performing with a diverse list of recording artists including Bob Dylan, Chubby Checker, the Reverend Gary Davis, Tom Paxton, and Jerry Jeff Walker before embarking on a solo career.
David's singular style ranges through every region of American acoustic music, from bluegrass and blues to jazz, rock, and beyond. He's also a remarkable entertainer who inspires intense, spontaneous give-and-take between his musicians and bans set lists from his shows, in which any number of unexpected things can happen—and usually do.
While it's impossible to predict the course the show, it's safe to assume he'll include at least some selections from his recent CD and first studio recording in 17 years, Try Me One More Time (Appleseed), a collection of venerable blues songs.
Tonight David is backed by the red-hot playing and rich harmonic textures of the Angel Band, featuring three fabulous vocalists—Nancy Josephson, Jen Schonwald, and Kathleen Weber, plus Bobby Tangrea (guitar, mandolin, fiddle), Jeff Wisor (fiddle, mandolin, guitar), and Bob Taylor (bass, guitar, mandolin).
David lives in Delaware now, folks, so don't miss the chance to see this amazing performer tonight! In fact, why not come both nights?
