magnificent voice & splendid songwriting
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $19.50

Whether she's performing a rowdy Texas stomp, a sultry torch song, or a soulful folk ballad, Chris Webster's velvety voice and passionate delivery can wring tears or goosebumps from her audience, sometimes both in the course of a single song. Backed by flatpicking guitar virtuoso Scott Nygaard and guitarist and harmonica ace Bill Edwards, Chris spotlights numbers from her new CD, Something in the Water (DIG), a collection of rootsy, bluesy tunes that traverses the back-roads of Americana music, from swampy funk to smoky R&B.

After making a name for herself as lead singer in one of northern California's most popular and eclectic dance bands, Mumbo Gumbo, Chris went on to record acclaimed solo releases, as well as teaming up with her sister Cassie and Scott Nygaard to perform traditional folk/Americana tunes. Regardless of what type of music she's performing, Chris' genius at wringing every ounce of soulful emotion from her songs is always amazing to behold: in the words of No Depression magazine, she "manages to make existential angst, romantic confusion and spiritual longing sound uncommonly appealing."
