Summer's gone-goin' gone.
Pale moon in a raptor sky,
Days as warm as a lover's kiss
Just before she says goodbye
At the age of 20, Ian Tyson's career as a rodeo cowboy was cut short by injuries. While recovering, the Calgary-raised Canadian westerner learned to play guitar—and the rest is history. He teamed up with Sylvia Fricker to create the legendary duo Ian & Sylvia, famous for a string of gorgeous folk classics that includes "Four Strong Winds" and "Someday Soon."
After returning to ranching In the 1970s, he made a dramatic return to music with several acclaimed solo albums, most famously, Cowboyography, a platinum-selling collection of western classics and originals. A true icon of country, folk, and western music, Ian performs starkly poetic ballads and alluring portraits of vivid characters from cowboy culture in a weathered voice that has become richer and more mesmerizing with each of his 60-odd years.
Ian has received just about every honor possible for a Canadian country-western singer including multiple Juno, Canadian Country Music Association, and ASCAP Country Music Awards, as well as the Order of Canada. He currently lives on a ranch in Alberta's Rocky Mountains. His most recent release is Songs from the Gravel Road.
