"Our goal has always been to spend our lives making music," say Robin and Linda Williams, and they sure are doing it in style. For over three decades, this husband-and-wife duo has delighted audiences in venues from coffee houses to the Grand Ole Opry to Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion radio show, not to mention the recent Robert Altman film of the same name. With Robin on guitar and Linda on clawhammer banjo and guitar, the pair perform a polished, heartfelt blend of bluegrass, traditional mountain folk ballads, Southern gospel, and acoustic country music that is simply irresistible.
Based in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Robin and Linda have their roots—geographical and musical—deep in the rich heritage that claims Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family. Both their classic interpretations and original tunes are beautifully crafted, combining impeccable musical discipline with a sensibility that drinks deep from the reservoir of tradition, as on their new album, Deeper Waters (Red House).
