England's finest young fingerstyle guitarist
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: 18.50

If you're a fan of the cross-pollinated, beautifully ornamented guitar style of masters like John Renbourn and Tommy Emmanuel — or even (especially!) if you're new to the world of acoustic fingerstyle guitar — this is one show to check out. Over the past few years, Clive Carroll has been seducing the British guitar world with his startling compositions and amazing technique, drawing comparisons to many of the world's greatest contemporary players. (Renbourn himself called Clive's first CD, Sixth Sense, "A milestone on the journey of the steel string guitar.") Known for his mesmerizing ability to draw audiences in with his warm, organic style, Clive plays striking original compositions that span the fields of classical, jazz, and traditional music, with seamless leaps from chamber music to Irish reels, from newgrass to fusion jazz.

Clive got his first banjo at the tender age of 2, and began playing bluegrass and Irish music in his family's band soon thereafter. He's won an impressive string of awards for guitar composition and performance, but until recently he was content to perform no farther afield than his local pub in London. Since 1998 Clive has been touring extensively, both solo and together with Renbourn and with famed Irish harp/guitar duo, Chris Newman & Maire Ni Chathasaigh. His second CD, The Red Guitar, gained him even greater critical acclaim in England. Now it's America's turn!
